When people start looking at fitted wardrobes, the first thing they ask is what they can actually have. The honest answer is more than most expect, because nothing we build comes in a standard size. But it helps to know the main choices before anyone comes round with a tape measure, so here they are, and what each one does to a room.
Why sliding doors suit Cardiff houses
Before the finish, the door. A hinged wardrobe door needs around two feet of clear floor in front of it to open, and most bedrooms in Cardiff cannot spare that. In a terrace in Canton or Roath, that strip is usually the way to the bed. In a newer house the rooms are squarer but smaller. Sliding doors open across each other rather than out into the room, so the floor stays yours. That is why every wardrobe we fit is a sliding wardrobe.
Mirror doors
Mirror doors do the most for a room that feels small or dark. A full wall of mirror bounces the light from the window back across the room, and the eye reads the space as carrying on past the wardrobe. You also get a full-length mirror without giving up a bit of wall to hang one. If your bedroom faces north, or you are in a box room, this is usually where we would start.
Glass doors
Our glass doors are coloured glass, not clear, so you see a smooth sheen of colour rather than your clothes. You can have a single colour, more than one colour on the same run, or coloured glass with acoustic panels. Glass gives a room a finished, calm look and wipes clean in seconds. Glass wardrobes start from £999, because the glass itself costs more.
Solid panel doors
Solid panel doors are for people who want the wardrobe to sit quietly in the room. Wood-effect and painted finishes work well in older Cardiff houses with picture rails and coving, where a wall of mirror can feel out of place. You can also mix them, with solid panels either side of a central mirror, which is one of the most popular runs we fit.

What goes inside
The doors are what you see, but the inside is what you use every day. Internal storage is planned around what you own: double hanging rails where one rail would leave a metre of empty space under your shirts, long hanging for coats and dresses, shelves, drawers and shoe space. A good layout often holds twice what a shop-bought wardrobe of the same width does.
Made to measure, so the choice is yours
Everything we fit is made to measure in our own workshop in Cilfynydd, just outside Pontypridd. That means the choice is about what suits your room, not about what happens to come in a size that nearly fits. Prices start from £799. If you would like to see work we have done locally, our fitted wardrobes in Cardiff page has photos from bedrooms across the city.
