Two Generations, One Workshop

SP has been a family business since 1984. Geraint started it and still runs it, and these days his son Josh works alongside him. Between them they have fitted somewhere in the region of ten thousand wardrobes across South Wales.

Geraint

At 16, while studying woodwork at college, Geraint knew instantly that the woodworking industry was where he belonged — and 40 years on, the rest, as they say, is history.

“As a family-run business, and one that has been going for over 40 years, we promise an approach that blends the professional with the personal. Our one-to-one service will always be catered to you and your home.”

How a Door Gets Made

Most companies selling you a fitted wardrobe have never made one. The design gets sent off, a container arrives some weeks later, and somebody comes to screw it to your wall. Ours are made at most around 90 minutes from where you live.

  1. A wardrobe door board being cut to size on the panel saw in the Pontypridd workshop

    Cutting

Every frame, shelf and drawer unit is made from the measurements taken by us on your home design visit and fits your room and your room only.

  2. An edge banding machine applying edging tape to a sliding wardrobe door panel in the Pontypridd workshop

    02

    Edging

All surfaces have finished edges and are sanded to give a clean, uniform finish.

  3. A glass cutter scoring a mirror panel on the cutting table in the Pontypridd workshop

    03

    Glass and mirror

Mirror and glass doors are cut to size in-house, which means we are not governed to any size or style of door. For added safety, every glass door we make is safety-backed to British standards. BS 6206 (Class B & C), BS EN 12600 (Class 2B2).

  4. A frame press cutting an aluminium sliding door profile on the workbench, with finished door frames laid out in the Pontypridd workshop

    04

    Frames and runners

The door frames are cut and assembled to your exact requirements, offering a truly one-of-a-kind set of doors.

  5. A newly fitted sliding wardrobe with mirrored doors installed in a modern bedroom, one door open to show hanging rails, shelves and drawers

Installed in a day, ready to use that evening. The same doors we cut in the workshop, now sliding in your room.

There Is Nobody Between Us and You

When you buy a fitted wardrobe from one of the national companies, you are not buying it from the people who made it. A designer visits, the order goes off to a factory, and some weeks later a fitter you have never met arrives with a van full of parts. Nobody in that chain has seen your bedroom except the first person, and they were paid commission on the sale.

Every link in that chain takes something. The showroom on the retail park has rent. The advertising has a budget. The salesman has a target. All of it is in the price you were quoted, before a single board has been cut.

We cut, build and finish the sliding wardrobes we make in Pontypridd. There is no outside factory, no middleman and no commission. We are one of the very few sliding wardrobe manufacturers left who still make everything ourselves.

That's how we stay so competitive in the fitted bedroom market. We never compromise on quality — we simply cut out the middlemen to pass the savings directly to you.

What the Two-Year Warranty Actually Means

Every order comes with a two-year warranty covering all materials and our workmanship. Glass and mirror breakages are not normally covered, although we assess each case individually and consider cover where manufacture or installation caused the problem.

If a door is not running right, you ring the workshop and we come out and assess it. There is no supplier to chase because we made and fitted the wardrobe.

We can do that because we made it. The people who built your doors are the people who come back if anything needs adjusting, and they are no more than an hour away rather than at the end of a national helpline.

We Cut Costs, Not Corners

Sliding wardrobes used to have a reputation, and not a good one. Doors that jumped off the runners, board that swelled the first time a radiator leaked, glass that was never really meant to be in a bedroom.

We buy the runners and the board ourselves, and every glass door we fit is safety-backed to British standards. BS 6206 (Class B & C), BS EN 12600 (Class 2B2). Nothing arrives from overseas on a container, which means nothing turns up damaged, late, or not quite what was ordered.

The savings come from having nobody in the middle. Not from the materials.

Most of Our Work Comes From People We Have Already Worked For

Somebody has us do the back bedroom, and two years later they ring about the box room, or their daughter’s house. It is the part of the job we are proudest of, because nobody comes back to a company that let them down the first time. In over forty years we have fitted somewhere in the region of ten thousand wardrobes.

75% of our new orders start with family or friends.

“Just had bespoke wardrobes and a desk fitted. Excellent work we are very pleased. Second job we have had done.”

“Had both bedrooms fitted with sliding wardrobes with this company and I have got to say their work is flawless.”

Why You Are Not Paying for a Showroom

A showroom has to pay for itself, so the rent, the display bedrooms and the person on the floor all end up inside every quote that comes out of one, whether you set foot in it or not. We have no unit to cover, so there is none of that in your price. What you pay for goes into the doors, the inside and the fitting, which is a good part of why we start at £799.

You can still see the doors in person. They are at our workshop in Cilfynydd, just outside Pontypridd, which has recently been refurbished, and on display at The Flooring & Bed Depot in Ebbw Vale and JB Carpets and Beds in Nelson.
